An Irish tourist has been found alive and well after he failed to catch his flight home from Lanzarote.

Joe had been staying in Puerto del Carmen and was due to fly back to Ireland in the early hours of Monday morning.

But when he did not show up to the airport, his family launched a desperate search.

His sister in law wrote in an appeal online: ‘This is my brother in law he is staying in Puerto del Carmen.

‘He was supposed to fly back to Ireland at 5am but never showed to the airport.

Appeal to find Joe was posted across social media on Monday

‘If anyone in Lanzarote has seen him in the last 18 hours can you please pm me!

‘His phone was left in the apartment on charge, all his stuff was still in the apartment when my sister went back looking for him…’

However in an update on Monday afternoon, she said: ‘Thanks so much everyone for sharing joe has been found safe and sound.’
