Mystery surrounds the horror discovery of a decomposing body near the La Cañada shopping centre in Marbella.

The partially covered corpse of the woman was discovered in the La Torrecilla urbanisation last Wednesday.

The grisly find was made after residents complained of a foul, persistent stench that had lingered in the air for days, according to local reports.

Police were called to the area and officers discovered the body partially concealed in a dense undergrowth just 20 metres from the road.

The partially covered corpse of the woman was discovered in the La Torrecilla urbanisation last Wednesday.

The location was a popular route for dog walkers living in La Torrecilla, situated just behind the bustling La Cañada shopping centre.

The body was already in an advanced state of decomposition and is believed to have been lying there at least four days prior.

The unidentified victim was not discovered until the smell become impossible to ignore.

More than a week later, and authorities appear to be no closer to identifying the woman or provide any meaningful updates on the case.

Residents are disturbed and do not know if foul play is being suspected in the case.
