This is the moment streets, homes and businesses were flooded in Arcos de la Frontera on Monday after an intense hailstorm dumped 45mm of rain in around half an hour.
The downpour struck the Cadiz town at approximately 3.20pm, overwhelming drains before easing at around 4pm.
Emergency service 112 received around 20 reports during that period, mainly involving flooding in streets, homes and commercial premises.
No injuries or evacuations had been reported.
Local police said numerous streets were inundated as the drainage network struggled to cope, while several minutes of heavy hail compounded the problems.
Affected areas included Portichuelo, Venta de Calderon and Camino de las Nieves.
Water entered ground-floor homes and flooded the Venta Calderon restaurant, where footage showed water flowing through the premises.
The municipal sports hall, which recently underwent improvements, was also flooded.
A section of wall beside steps leading towards Caños Verdes collapsed, affecting two parked vehicles.
On the A-382 towards Bornos, drivers reported water and mud on the carriageway, causing tailbacks. The road remained open.
Mayor Miguel Rodriguez and other council representatives visited affected neighbourhoods to assess the damage, while local police continued responding to calls.
The storm was highly localised as nearby Bornos and Villamartin, along with Arcos’ outlying district of Jedula, experienced more moderate rainfall.
