Andalucia President Juanma Moreno marked Spain’s National Day with an English-language video inviting viewers to guess which country he is describing.
The clip, shared by the European Committee of the Regions, combines his message with footage of the Andalucian coastline, Semana Santa processions, landmark monuments and successful sports stars.
Its release coincided with the leader’s visit to Brussels for the European Week of Regions and Cities, where he is taking part in debates from Monday to Wednesday.
The Andalucia president highlights the country’s climate, industrial potential and cultural and natural heritage as he offers clues to its identity.
The video uses familiar scenes from southern Spain to illustrate his message, bringing together coastal landscapes, historic attractions and religious traditions.
In the accompanying post, Moreno said Andalucia was proud to be Spanish and to celebrate the things that unite the country.
The message marked October 12, known as the Dia de la Hispanidad and Spain’s National Day.
Moreno acknowledged the national holiday during his opening appearance at the European summit.
His speech included an appeal for European support for Ceuta following recent events in the Spanish enclave, which he described as an ‘invasion’.
He said residents needed to feel that Europe was standing alongside them, arguing that protecting Ceuta also meant protecting Europe.
