Yet another firearm incident has been reported on the Costa del Sol.
It comes after a motorist allegedly opened fire on the AP-7 motorway in Estepona in the early hours of this Sunday.
According to reports, the suspect then evaded police in a luxury Audi Q8.
Emergency services received two calls shortly after 12.30am reporting a collision and gunshots near kilometre 151 of the motorway.
Witnesses told the 112 emergency control centre that shots were being fired from one vehicle following the crash.
The Guardia Civil’s traffic division and the Policia Nacional were alerted, although medical assistance was not required because nobody was found to have been injured.
Police sources said a high-end Audi Q8 believed to have been involved fled in the direction of Marbella.
A Policia Local patrol attempted to intercept the driver but was unable to catch the vehicle.
The investigation continues.
The incident comes around 10 days after police officers fired warning shots during the arrest of two suspected thieves in Estepona.
The two cases are not believed to be connected.
In the earlier incident, officers arrested a 52-year-old man and a woman of the same age over a series of alleged thefts from parked vehicles.
During the operation, the man allegedly attempted to attack an officer with a bladed weapon.
Police fired several warning shots into the air, but nobody was injured.
