Three people had to be rescued by firefighters after becoming trapped inside a lift in the centre of Estepona on Friday.
It came as soaring temperatures gripped the Costa del Sol under an orange weather alert issued by state weather agency Aemet.
The incident unfolded on Avenida España, where officers from the Provincial Firefighters Consortium were called to carry out an emergency opening of the lift after it became stuck with three occupants inside.
Firefighters safely freed all three people, who were reported to be in good health despite the ordeal.
As a precaution, the lift was sealed off after the rescue to prevent it from being used until it can be inspected and repaired.
The rescue mission came as much of Malaga province endured sweltering conditions, with the Costa del Sol under an orange heat warning and temperatures forecast to climb as high as 40C in some inland areas.

While it has not been confirmed whether the intense heat contributed to the malfunction, high temperatures can place additional strain on electrical and mechanical systems, including lifts.
Authorities continue to urge residents to avoid unnecessary exertion during the hottest part of the day, stay hydrated and take extra care of elderly and vulnerable people during the ongoing heatwave.
