A teenager was arrested in Fuengirola on Saturday night after allegedly launching a violent attack on a Local Police officer.
Footage shared online showed how football fans fresh from the Norway vs England World Cup match had to help bring him under control.
The incident was initially reported on social media as a brawl between rival supporters.
However, Fuengirola Town Hall has since confirmed the disturbance actually began when officers tried to stop a teenager who was illegally performing wheelies on a bicycle through a pedestrian area.
According to the council, officers repeatedly ordered the teenager to stop after spotting him riding dangerously through the town centre.
He allegedly ignored the instructions and fled, triggering a pursuit through nearby streets.
The chase ended in Calle Moncayo, where officers intercepted the teenager.
Police say he then violently resisted arrest, punching one officer several times in the face.

The officer and colleagues eventually managed to restrain the suspect with the assistance of several members of the public, many of whom had been in the area following the Norway vs England World Cup match.
The teenager was arrested at the scene, while his father was later informed of the incident.
He also faces two administrative fines for dangerous cycling and disobeying police orders.
The injured officer required medical treatment for facial injuries sustained during the alleged assault.
Videos shared online show the chaotic scenes as police struggled with the suspect while bystanders stepped in to help restrain him.
