High-speed rail services between Madrid and Andalucia have been suspended after a wildfire broke out close to the railway line near Cordoba.
Rail infrastructure manager Adif said the disruption is affecting the section between Cordoba city and the nearby district of Alcolea, where train services have been halted for safety reasons.
The fire reportedly started in a roadside ditch along the old N-IV road before producing a dense plume of smoke that spread across the area.
The smoke has also affected visibility on the road linking Cordoba with Alcolea, close to the Rabanales university campus.
There is currently no indication of when services will resume, with Adif monitoring the situation as firefighters work to bring the blaze under control.
The latest disruption comes just hours after Renfe announced that rail services between Madrid and Andalucia had returned to normal following delays caused by the theft of signalling cables between Ciudad Real and Malagon in Castilla-La Mancha.
Passengers travelling between the Spanish capital and southern Spain are being advised to check the status of their services before setting off.
