A 26-year-old World Cup fan has died after the flag she was wearing became entangled in the rear wheel of a motorcycle, causing it to overturn.
The fatal crash happened in Algeciras at around 11pm on Saturday, near Calle Getares.
According to 112 Andalucia, the woman had a Moroccan flag tied around her neck while riding on the back of the vehicle, which was being driven by her husband.
Investigators believe the fabric became caught in the motorcycle’s rear wheel, causing it to lose control and overturn.
Emergency services dispatched Local Police, the Guardia Civil and paramedics to the scene after receiving reports of the crash.
When they arrived, the woman was unconscious.
Local Police officers immediately began CPR and used a defibrillator in an attempt to save her, but without success.

Paramedics continued advanced resuscitation efforts before transferring the woman to the Accident and Emergency Department at Punta Europa Hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Police carried out a breathalyser test on the motorcycle rider, who is understood to be the woman’s husband.
The test returned a negative reading of 0.0mg of alcohol per litre of exhaled air, ruling out alcohol as a factor in the collision.
