A 65-year-old man has died after being pulled unconscious from the sea off Torre del Mar.
Emergency services were called at around 10.45am on Friday after a member of the public reported a swimmer being brought ashore unresponsive.
The Andalucia emergency service (112) said it dispatched paramedics alongside officers from the Policia Nacional and local police.
Medical teams confirmed the man had died at the scene.
Authorities have not released any further details about the incident.
The tragedy occurred on one of Torre del Mar’s busiest stretches of coastline during what has been a deadly start to the summer season on the Costa del Sol.
Earlier this week, an elderly man died on a Nerja beach after getting into difficulty while going for a swim.
Another man died on Fuengirola’s popular Los Boliches beach after suffering a suspected heart attack in the water.
