A major plane crash drill involving more than 170 emergency responders has taken place at Malaga Airport.
The exercise, which began at 10.30am on Tuesday near the aerodrome, recreated a scenario in which an aircraft breaks apart during landing, according to emergency officials.
The mock incident includes simulated casualties and fatalities, requiring a full emergency response as if the situation were real.
Multiple emergency vehicles and services were involved in the drill.
Authorities say the objective is to evaluate response capacity in a major crisis, as well as to test the airport’s self-protection plan, 112 Andalucía’s coordination protocols and the speed and effectiveness of emergency deployment.
Organisers stressed that this is a planned exercise and that the visible presence of emergency vehicles does not correspond to a real emergency, urging the public not to be alarmed.
