Two alleged Colombian cartel leaders accused of running a major cocaine trafficking network from Fuengirola have been arrested.
The pair are suspected of orchestrating the import of 110kg of cocaine into Spain, concealed inside sports bags within an air cargo container shipped from Colombia.
The investigation began in June 2025 after officers identified a container bound for Spain carrying the large cocaine haul. The drugs were allegedly destined for distribution across Spain and other parts of Europe.
Once the shipment landed at Madrid-Barajas Airport, police monitored meetings between members of the organisation, who had travelled from various European countries to coordinate the deal.
Arrests in Madrid and Fuengirola
Three suspects were arrested at a shopping centre in Madrid’s Hortaleza district while preparing to complete a transaction. Officers seized more than €126,000 in cash, hidden inside supermarket bags.
Two other men accused of collecting the drugs were detained at a hotel in the Barajas area.

Meanwhile, the two alleged ringleaders were tracked down and arrested in Fuengirola, where investigators say they had been directing negotiations and overseeing the operation.
Police also confiscated the 110kg of cocaine, the cash and two high-end vehicles, including a rental car allegedly used in the logistics of the trafficking.
All seven suspects have been charged with membership of a criminal organisation and drug trafficking offences and have been remanded in custody by a judge.
