Missing: Helge Mayer missed his flight home to Germany

A desperate appeal has been launched to find a German tourist who disappeared from Malaga province over a week ago.

Helge Mayer, 37, was due to fly home following a holiday to the Costa del Sol but never made his flight.

According to the appeal, his phone has been switched off since at least February 1.

Relatives do not know exactly where Helge was staying nor which hotel he was in, complicating the search.

His pal Marc Isbach said: ‘He was on vacation in Malaga and was supposed to fly back at the beginning of February. He did not take the flight, and his phone has been switched off since around February 1.

‘I have tried contacting hospitals in the region, but apparently none of them speak English. Please share this and help me find my friend.’

Helge is described as measuring 185cm tall.

He is the second person to have been reported missing on the Costa del Sol this week after a 15-year-old girl vanished from Torre del Mar.

Fortunately, after 24 hours of worry, Olivia contacted her parents and they have since reunited.
