A feared red alert for extreme rainfall has been issued for Malaga province on Wednesday.
The warning from state weather agency Aemet affects the region of Ronda and is in effect for the entire day.
The alert expects up to 150mm of rain per square metre over a 12-hour period, which could exceed 200mm over 24 hours.
Ronda will also be under a yellow alert for strong winds of up to 80km/hr.
Elsewhere in Malaga province
Meanwhile, the Costa del Sol is on an orange alert for heavy rainfall, also for the entire day.


The western half of the coast will be harder hit, with more than 150mm expected over 12 hours, while the rest can expect 40mm.
The coast and Guadalhorce Valley are also under a yellow advisory for strong winds of up to 80km/hr.
The Axarquia, too, is on an orange warning for heavy rain throughout Wednesday, with up to 120mm expected over 12 hours.
Cadiz to be hardest hit
Cadiz is set to be hardest hit by the storm on Wednesday, with the whole province covered by red and orange alerts.
Red warnings are in place in the Grazalema region, again for the entire day, with more than 200mm of rainfall per square metre expected.
The rest of the province will be under an orange alert throughout the day, with up to 150mm of rainfall forecast.

The whole of Cadiz province is also under alert for strong winds, ranging between 70km/hr and 100km/hr.
Huelva and Sevilla
Huelva and Sevilla will escape the worst of the storm but are still under yellow advisories for heavy rain and strong winds.
Both provinces face winds of up to 70km/hr and accumulated rainfall of 15mm per square metre.
Granada
In Granada, the majority of the province will be under an orange alert throughout Wednesday for heavy rain that could exceed 150mm per square metre, with the Alpujarra and Sierra Nevada expecting the most.
Meanwhile, winds will reach a maximum of 80km/hr across the province.
The northeastern half, comprising Guadix and Baza, are on a lesser yellow alert for heavy rain.
Jaen
In Jaen, yellow alerts for winds of up to 70km/hr and heavy rain covers the western half of the province, including Jaen city.
In Cazorla and Segura, an orange advisory has been issued for strong rainfall that could exceed 120mm per square metre over 24 hours.
A yellow warning for 80km/hr winds is also in place there.
Almeria
In Almeria, its western coast and the capital are under a yellow alert for heavy rain that could exceed 40mm over 12 hours, plus winds of up to 80km/hr.
In inland areas, there are only yellow warnings for strong winds of up to 70km/hr, and no alerts for heavy rain.
Meanwhile, the seas off the entire coast of Almeria are under an orange alert for waves of up to five metres and 75km/hr gales.
