Hotel Ritual Torremolinos has been sold to a growing Catalan hotel chain.
The iconic hotel, considered the largest gay-focused complex in southern Europe, was acquired by Ona Hotels & Apartments.
Located in the centre of Torremolinos, with direct access to El Bajondillo beach, the hotel opened in 2017 following the complete renovation of the former Hotel Stella Polaris, originally built in the 1960s.
Hotel Ritual is a three-star property with 187 modern rooms, many offering sea views, and a wide range of leisure and wellness facilities.
Its services include two outdoor swimming pools, a full spa area with heated pool, sauna, Turkish bath, chromotherapy zone and massage rooms, as well as a 24-hour gym, retail spaces and a barber and hair salon.
The hotel also features a nudist rooftop area, a large buffet-style restaurant and underground parking.
With the acquisition of Hotel Ritual, Ona Hotels & Apartments now operates 10 hotel complexes on the Costa del Sol and a total portfolio of 52 properties across Spain and abroad.
Its destinations include Mallorca, the Canary Islands, Murcia and Catalonia, alongside a growing presence in Andorra and Morocco.

‘It is an honour to expand our portfolio in southern Spain, allowing us to offer complementary holiday experiences to both national and international guests,’ said Nacho Barrau, CEO of Ona Hotels & Apartments.
He added that the purchase of Hotel Ritual, together with the recent acquisition of Ona Luna Park Adults Only in Mallorca, marks ‘a very important step’ in the company’s expansion strategy.
There have been no comments on whether the hotels will be refurbished or how they will change under Ona’s ownership.
The Spanish Eye has contacted Ona for comment.
