A new bus route will connect a string of British expat hotspots on the Costa del Sol next week.
The M-060B route will ferry passengers between Fuengirola, La Cala de Mijas and Marbella from December 1.
It comes as the Malaga Area Metropolitan Transport Consortium (CTMAM) is expanding its network along the coast.
The new line, announced by the Junta’s regional delegate for Public Works, María Rosa Morales, is expected to significantly increase public transport capacity between the three municipalities.
Morales said the new service represents ‘a major commitment to improving public transport on the Costa del Sol’, adding that it will substantially reinforce the corridor between Fuengirola and Marbella, with a dedicated stop in La Cala de Mijas.
The addition of the M-060 raises weekday frequencies on the Fuengirola–La Cala stretch by 50%, climbing from 64 to 96 daily services when combined with the existing M-220 Las Lagunas–Fuengirola–Marbella route.
CTMAM estimates that the improved service configuration will directly benefit 2.1 million passengers a year who use this busy corridor.
Fuengirola’s mobility councillor called the launch ‘a major advantage and long-awaited demand now achieved’.
Mijas’ infrastructure councillor highlighted the importance of the new stop in La Cala, while Marbella’s mobility chief said the route reflects ‘a growing awareness that the metropolitan area extends across the entire Costa del Sol.’
