The family of a missing 28-year-old in Marbella fear he may have tried to take his own life.
Nicolas L.S has been missing for exactly two weeks today, having disappeared on November 10.
After 14 days without a break in the case, his extremely worried family have issued a plea for authorities to ramp up the search.
‘We are begging the competent authorities to give more weight to the hypothesis that he tried to take his own life,’ they said in an appeal.
His parents, who have flown in from Colombia, want police to search more rural areas in the outskirts of Marbella.
Although the National Center for Missing Persons (CNDES) is maintaining the alert, those close to the missing man feel that the efforts are dwindling as the days go by.
The family’s main complaint focuses on the intensity and location of the search.
According to reports, the search using aerial resources has been insufficient, with just one day of helicopters and drones given to the operation.

The family is therefore requesting a change in strategy, pleading for search teams to be deployed intensively on the ground in the fields surrounding Marbella and in hard-to-reach areas, places where, according to their hypothesis, Nicolas could be found.
At the beginning of the disappearance, maritime surveillance was also requested, but the focus of the family is now on the countryside and the outskirts of the city.
Much-loved Nicolas, who worked at a churro stand until he disappeared, was last heard from by family and friends on November 10.
Social media has been flooded with messages from friends and relatives trying to find any clues about his whereabouts.
His incredibly worried family, including his mother and father, have flown in from Colombia to find him.
In one video shared online, his tearful parents tell him: ‘We love you’, as they begged for anyone with information to come forward.

His father said: ‘It may be that you’re scared, but we are more scared for not being able to help you, we love you my son, come home soon.’
The young man, originally from Colombia, is well-known in Marbella, where he had been working at a churro stand until his disappearance.
Spain’s National Centre for Missing Persons (CNDES) has issued an alert asking for anyone with information to come forward.
According to the description, Nicolas is 1.65 metres tall, weighs between 60 and 65kg, and has a medium build.
He has short brown hair and several tattoos on both arms.
Anyone with information should contact the Policia Nacional by calling 091, or the emergency services by dialing 112, or the SOS Desaparecidos association at 868 286 726.
