Marbella has added another high-end tourism project to its pipeline.
The City Council has approved the urban development plan for Pinomar, where Greek hotel group Ikos Resorts will build a five-star resort with 340 rooms.
The property is scheduled to open in 2028, backed by a €120 million investment and expected to generate around 1,000 jobs during construction and launch.
The complex will rise on the site of the former Marbella Playa Hotel, demolished after its purchase by Ikos from Grupo Hoteles Playa.
The new resort will feature private-pool suites, fine dining options, and an exclusive beachfront spa, all under Ikos’ signature luxury all-inclusive model.

Ikos already has a strong presence on the Costa del Sol with Ikos Andalucia in Estepona, named ‘Best Family Hotel in the World’ and ‘Best Hotel in Spain’ by Tripadvisor in 2024.
The Marbella property will be its third resort in Spain, following the opening of Ikos Mallorca in 2023.
With multiple resorts in Greece and another in Crete planned for 2026, Ikos is doubling down on the Spanish market, signaling further expansion in the years ahead.
