Starting September 6, Icelandair will launch direct flights between the Costa del Sol city and Reykjavik, offering two weekly journeys on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

The service expands the airline’s footprint in southern Europe and provides passengers with onward connections to North America via Keflavik Airport, Icelandair’s main hub.

‘This new route strengthens our presence in Spain and opens up new options for travellers heading across the Atlantic,’ said Eva Bretos, the airline’s director in Spain.

Flight schedule

Flights from Malaga will depart at 3.45pm, landing in Reykjavik at 6:35pm. The return leg from Reykjavik will leave at 8am, arriving in Málaga at 2.45pm.

Icelandair, which has been operating for more than 85 years, now serves 60 destinations across North America and Europe.

From Spain, it already flies direct to Iceland from Alicante, Barcelona, Las Palmas, Tenerife South, and Lisbon – now adding Malaga to its list.

More Connections from Málaga

The Icelandair launch is part of a broader push to boost Malaga’s international links.

Vueling has also announced the return of its direct Zurich–Malaga route this winter, running between December 3, 2025 and January 10, 2026, with flights twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
