A 48-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman have died after the motorbike they were travelling on collided head-on with a car just after midnight on the N-340 in Almuñécar, Granada province.
The fatal accident happened at kilometre 321, near the Alfamar urbanisation on the Costa Tropical on Wednesday.
According to emergency service 112, multiple witnesses called in around 12am to report a violent impact between a car and a motorcycle.

The Guardia Civil confirmed the driver of the car escaped injury. The two motorbike occupants, however, suffered critical trauma.

Two advanced medical teams and a mobile ICU from the 061 health service were dispatched, but paramedics were unable to save either victim.
The crash prompted a complete closure of the N-340 at the scene for several hours, as Guardia Civil traffic officers carried out an investigation and road maintenance crews removed the wreckage. By early morning, the stretch had reopened to traffic.
Authorities have not released the identities of the deceased.
The Guardia Civil is now working to determine the cause of the collision, including whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role.
