An Albanian drug trafficker wanted by Interpol has been arrested at a luxury villa in Granada.
The narco had been hiding out in Almuñecar, a municipality popular with British expats and tourists.
The Guardia Civil said he had chosen a hilltop home as his base as it allowed him to ‘monitor his surroundings’.
The Spanish force said in a post on X: ‘He was subject to an active search and arrest warrant by the judicial authorities of Albania.
‘He was hiding in a luxury residence located in an isolated area and situated on elevated terrain that allowed him to monitor the surroundings.
‘Upon noticing the police operation, he fled down a slope in an attempt to escape cross-country, but was intercepted by the police cordon.’
Footage shared by the Guardia Civil showed a gun and silencer that was seized during a raid of the property.
