The earthquake on Tuesday occurred at 3.19pm at a depth of 81km below the Earth’s surface.

The event caused no personal or property damage, and according to IGN records, was not felt by the population.

The earthquake adds to a recurring seismic activity in the southern Iberian Peninsula region.

The province of Malaga, and the Costa del Sol in particular, is located within the well-known Gibraltar Arc, an active geological system that records frequent seismic movements, most of them small.
