The coldest temperature in Spain on Tuesday was recorded in Andalucia, it has emerged.
According to state weather agency Aemet, a bone-chilling -17.3C was confirmed in Pedrollano, located in Granada’s Sierra Nevada National Park at 9.40am.
Aemet said this was followed by -14C in Molina de Aragon (Guadalajara) at 5.40am and Cap de Vaqueira (Lleida), where the same temperature was reached at 9.30am.
In fourth place was the Sierra Nevada Radio Telescope area, where a temperature of -13.9C Celsius measured at 9.40am.
This was followed by Laguna Seca, also in the Sierra Nevada National Park, which registered -13.4C at the same time.
It means the three of the five coldest locations in Spain on Tuesday were located in Andalucia’s Granada province.
In Andalucia, average minimum temperatures forecast for Tuesday ranged from 8C in Almeria to -2C in Granada.
By province, 5C was expected in Cadiz, 0C in Cordoba, 3C in Huelva, 0C in Jaen, 6C in Malaga, and 3C in Sevilla.
Multiple warnings for cold have been issued across the region overnight.
The yellow warnings, beginning at 9pm and ending on Wednesday morning, affect the Sevilla countryside, Cordoba, most of Jaen and Guadix and Baza in Granada.
They warn of subzero temperatures, with minimum averages of -4C.
