A series of weather alerts for severe rain have been issued across Andalucia as Storm Emilia continues to batter Spain.

The most serious red warning is in place in the Almanzora and Los Velez valleys in inland Almeria.

Accoring to state weather agency Aemet, up to 120mm of rain per square metre will fall in 12 hours.

The red alert is in place until at least midnight on Sunday night.

The coast of Almeria is on a yellow warning for heavy rain throughout Sunday, while other inland areas are on a more serious orange alert.

The Guadix and Baza regions of Granada are also on an orange warning for heavy rainfall throughout Sunday.

Meanwhile, the entire southern coast of Andalucia, including the Costa del Sol, is on a yellow alert for rough sea conditions.

Aemet predicts waves of up to four metres and strong gusts of wind of up to 60km/hr.

The warning along the coasts will be desactivated at noon on Sunday.

Elsewhere in the country, a series of feared red warnings have also been issued in Valencia.

It comes little over a year since the deadly DANA floods in 2024, which killed more than 220 people.

In a post on X, Aemet said the north and south coasts of Valencia are affected by the warning.
