A driver has been arrested in Mijas after showing police officers a fake UK licence.

According to the Policia Local de Mijas, the suspect was seen ‘driving abnormally’ on a roundabout in La Cala last Thursday (October 2).

Officers, who were carrying out surveillance on Avenida de Abogados de Oficio, decided to intervene.

The force said in a statement: ‘On the morning of Thursday the 2nd, Mijas Local Police officers, while conducting surveillance on Avenida Abogados de Oficio, observed a vehicle driving abnormally on a roundabout.

‘Once the vehicle was intercepted in a safe place, they proceeded to request the driver’s personal and vehicle documentation.

‘The driver displayed a fake UK driving licence, stating that it was the only one he had.

‘In light of these events, officers initiated criminal proceedings against the driver, alleging the crime of falsifying documents and a crime against road safety.’
