This is the moment a street was closed off in Marbella following the collapse of an apartment’s balcony.
Footage taken by the Spanish Eye shows the remnants of the fourth-floor terrace smashed into pieces on the ground.
The affected building, called the Edificio Atrium, is situated just a stone’s throw away from the beach and in one of the most exclusive zones of the city centre.
The street was cordoned off by police as firefighters began clearing the rubble from the ground.
Police were stopping residents from walking through or past the affected building.
It is not yet clear what caused the structure of the balcony to collapse.
Fortunately, no one was walking beneath the balcony when it plummeted to the ground, in what would have almost certainly caused fatal injuries.
The Spanish Eye has contacted Marbella town hall for comment.
