A 61-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Fuengirola at the weekend, it has emerged.
The victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to the Costa del Sol Hospital in Marbella.
The attack took place on Calle Reyes Catolicos shortly before 6am, reports Malaga Hoy.
A friend of the victim contacted the 112 Andalucia emergency service, who immediately alerted the Policia Nacional and medical services.
Due to the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, a specialist ambulance equipped to stabilise patients at risk of death was sent to the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the attack have not yet been disclosed.
No information has been released about the precise nature of the man’s injuries nor his current condition.
It is the second serious stabbing reported in Malaga province in the space of two weeks.
The previous incident occurred in Pinosol Park, near Malaga city’s Gibralfaro hill, where a 17-year-old boy was stabbed during an alleged confrontation between two groups of teenagers.
The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remained in intensive care while recovering.
Another teenager suffered minor injuries during the same disturbance.
