A dangerous gang accused of carrying out violent armed home invasions in Marbella while posing as police officers has been dismantled by the Policia Nacional.
The group is alleged to have targeted luxury homes using real firearms while wearing police-style uniforms, bulletproof vests, caps and flashing blue lights to deceive victims into believing they were law enforcement officers.
Police say the suspects were arrested as they drove through Marbella in a van, moments before they were about to carry out another robbery.
Inside the vehicle, officers discovered five handguns, tactical silencers, ammunition and a large cache of fake police equipment, including bulletproof vests, handcuffs, uniforms, caps and emergency flashing lights.
Investigators also seized €31,500 in cash, GPS tracking devices, signal jammers, cable ties and folded number plates believed to have been used during previous robberies.
The investigation began in December following two violent burglaries in Alicante. Detectives later linked the same group to two earlier armed robberies in Marbella, where police say the gang had established logistical support.
Following months of surveillance, officers confirmed all members of the group had returned to Marbella, allowing them to launch the operation before another alleged robbery could take place.
Police then carried out four searches at properties in Marbella and Fuengirola, recovering six luxury vehicles and further equipment believed to have been used in the crimes.
The gang is accused of carrying out five violent robberies across Marbella and Alicante, stealing jewellery, watches and other valuables worth an estimated €400,000.
Those arrested also face charges including illegal possession of firearms, document forgery, assault, crimes against privacy, impersonating public officials and membership of a criminal organisation.
The investigation remains ongoing, with Spanish authorities having issued two European Arrest Warrants for two alleged members of the gang who are believed to be outside Spain.
