A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly terrorising revellers with a large knife in Puerto Banus.
According to Diario Sur, the suspect robbed at least one person and injured another after threatening several partygoers as they made their way home from the party resort.
The chaos unfolded shortly before 6.30am on Sunday, July 12, in Plaza Antonio Banderas, as crowds were leaving various nightclubs.
Emergency services received multiple calls reporting that a man was brandishing a large knife and threatening people in the busy square.
Marbella’s Local Police arrived at the scene to find the suspect attempting to conceal the weapon.
Police said the man had threatened one passer-by, violently stolen a mobile phone from another and assaulted a third victim before he was detained.
The suspect also resisted officers during the arrest, they claimed.
He has been accused of public disorder, making threats, causing injuries, violent robbery, illegal possession of a weapon, and resisting and disobeying police.
The investigation continues.
