This is the heartwarming moment Spanish rescuers returned home to emotional reunions with their families after helping victims of the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela.
Footage shared by the Ministry of Defence shows members of the Military Emergency Unit (UME) embracing loved ones after landing back in Spain following their deployment.
The scenes capture children running into their parents’ arms, emotional hugs between partners and families welcoming the emergency workers home.
The Ministry of Defence paid tribute to the team in a post on X, writing: ‘Those who became family and a home for people who had lost everything in Venezuela are returning home to reunite with their own.’
It added: ‘Thank you for your work, your empathy and for being there for those who needed you most in an emergency.
‘Thank you, above all, for always being there.’
The UME was deployed to assist communities affected by catastrophic double earthquake disaster in Venezuela, providing emergency support to people who had become trapped under rubble.
The unit is Spain’s specialist military emergency force and is regularly sent to respond to major disasters both at home and abroad, including wildfires, floods and international humanitarian emergencies.
