A medieval French village has been added to the list of destinations with direct flights to Malaga.
Today, Volotea began its new seasonal route to Limoges-Bellegarde Airport, which will operate throughout the summer.
Flights will run once a week on Thursdays during July, increasing to twice weekly in August, with departures on Thursdays and Sundays.
One-way fares start from €29, with tickets already on sale through the airline’s website.
The new connection strengthens Volotea’s network from Malaga and also supports the expansion of its recently opened base in Limoges, in France’s Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, around 200km from Bordeaux.
Limoges is best known as France’s porcelain capital, with a ceramics industry dating back to the 18th century after rich deposits of kaolin clay were discovered nearby.
Visitors can explore the city’s porcelain heritage at the Musee National Adrien Dubouche, home to one of the world’s largest collections of Limoges porcelain, while many traditional workshops and boutiques continue to sell handcrafted pieces.
The city itself has a compact historic centre filled with half-timbered houses, medieval streets and Gothic landmarks.
Among its highlights is the Cathddrale Saint-Etienne de Limoges, which overlooks the banks of the River Vienne, while the nearby Jardin de l’Eveche offers sweeping views across the city.
Limoges is also famous for its enamel art, another craft that has earned the city international recognition.
