This is the moment the new Popemobile that will be used by Pope Leo XIV during his upcoming visit to Spain arrived to the country.
The video shows the specially adapted white Mercedes being flown aboard a military transport aircraft before being unloaded under tight security.
Footage released by the Policia Nacional captures the moment the vehicle emerges from the cargo hold of the large military plane at an airbase before being carefully escorted away.
The iconic vehicle, which features the elevated seating area that allows crowds to see the pontiff during public appearances, was then covered and loaded onto a transport truck for its journey to its final destination.
The Policia Nacional accompanied the convoy throughout the operation, with the footage showing armed officers securing roads while the vehicle was transported through Spanish streets.
In a statement accompanying the video, the force said they were responsible for safeguarding the Popemobile that Pope Leo XIV will use during his visit.
The arrival of the vehicle marks one of the clearest signs yet that preparations are intensifying ahead of the pontiff’s highly anticipated trip.
The visit will be Pope Leo XIV’s first official trip to Spain since becoming head of the Catholic Church, making it one of the most significant religious events the country has hosted in recent years.
Security is expected to be extensive, with thousands of worshippers likely to gather for public appearances and religious ceremonies.
The footage highlights the extraordinary logistical operation required behind the scenes before a papal visit can take place, with specialised transport, police escorts and security teams all involved in moving and protecting one of the world’s most recognisable vehicles.
The National Police shared the video on social media under the message: “This is how we are safeguarding the Popemobile that Pope Leo XIV will use during his visit to Spain.”
For many Catholics, however, the arrival of the vehicle is likely to be seen as the first tangible glimpse of a historic visit that is now drawing ever closer.
