A British tourist has been stabbed in broad daylight in Benidorm, according to his partner.
The incident allegedly happened at around 2pm on Saturday near the Railway Bar area of the resort.
In a Facebook post shared in an online Benidorm forum, the victim’s partner, Gemma Foster, appealed for help locating the man’s missing phone after it was allegedly thrown into a rubble area opposite the bar.
‘My partner was stabbed and his phone was thrown there,’ she wrote.
In later comments, Foster said the British man had been taken to Marina Hospital and was in a stable condition following the attack.
‘He’s in the marina hospital and he’s stable,’ she wrote.
The incident appears to have unfolded after the victim attempted to assist another injured person.
‘My partner walked over to help someone he didn’t know that had been hurt and someone came from behind and stabbed him,’ Foster alleged in a follow-up comment.
The shocking claims have sparked concern among regular British visitors to Benidorm, particularly given the attack is said to have happened in the middle of the afternoon rather than late at night.
Several social media users responded offering to help search for the missing phone, which Foster said had allegedly been thrown into a rubble area opposite the Railway Bar.
At the time of writing it is unclear whether any arrests have been made.
The Spanish Eye has contacted Gemma and the Policia Nacional in Alicante for comment and further information.
