A police officer in training has revealed how much jail time you can expect to face in Spain when caught carrying drugs like cocaine or MDMA.
Marcos from Academia Zulu – a training school for budding police officers in Spain – shared a video explaining the different forms of punishment.
The Policia Local agent revealed how the fines and potential prison time vary depending on how much you are caught carrying.
According to Marcos, one gram of drugs such as cocaine can bring a fine of between €601 and €30,000.
He said the fines are the same for being found with five grams, but that you are on the threshold of ‘committing a serious crime.’
If you are found with 5kg, he reveals, you face jail time of between three and six years, and a fine that is the equivalent of triple the value of the drugs.
‘If the drugs are worth €30,000, then you will be sanctioned €90,000,’ Marcos said.

Finally, if you are found with 10kg or more, you will also face three to six years in prison but your fine will be four times the value of the drugs seized.
Marcos warns that the punishment can be increased depending on three key factors.
Mainly, if you belong to a criminal organisation, if you have given the drugs to people under the age of 18 and if you are already known to authorities.
