Finding good value in Marbella isn’t always easy. Between high-end beach clubs and rising prices across the Costa del Sol, it can feel like affordable, quality dining is becoming harder to come by.
But tucked away in San Pedro, Mr Gourmet Burger proves that great food doesn’t have to come with a hefty bill.
It has been operating for years now after being opened an Irish expat – who also founded the Passion Cafe, a once very popular eatery in the nearby La Colonia shopping centre before it closed.
What stands out straight away is the menu, as you quickly realise this isn’t your standard burger spot.
Alongside the classics is an extensive and creative selection – including one of the more unusual options: a waffle burger. It might sound like a gimmick, but it works.
The combination of crispy bacon, a fried egg and maple syrup sandwiched between soft waffle layers hits that perfect sweet-savoury balance. It’s the kind of dish you order out of curiosity, then end up wanting again.
If you prefer to keep things simple, you’re just as well looked after. A classic cheeseburger comes in at just €8.50 – a price that feels almost unheard of in Marbella these days.

The skinny fries are also exactly what you want them to be – crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and clearly made with care rather than as an afterthought.
Service also deserves a mention. The staff are friendly, relaxed and attentive without being overbearing, adding to the easy atmosphere.
If you’ve got room, it’s worth staying for dessert.
Everything is homemade, and it shows. The mixed chocolate cheesecake with raspberries is heavenly, while the mixed fruit baked pie is a treat for lovers of sweet.
Once the bill came, two burgers, two portions of fries, two soft drinks, two coffees and two homemade desserts totalled just €50. In Marbella, that kind of value is rare.
In a town where dining out can quickly become expensive, this is the kind of place locals will want to keep to themselves – but it deserves to be known.
Mr Gourmet Burger is definitely a local gem and is Spanish Eye approved.
