Sevilla has cemented its status as a medical powerhouse after dominating a prestigious national ranking of Spain’s top doctors.
According to the latest Top Doctors Awards 2025, four specialists from Sevilla have been named among the 50 best doctors in the country – more than any other province in Andalucia.
The four standout names putting Sevilla on the map are:
- Diego Sanchez Muñoz (Digestive Health)
- Ernesto Diaz Infante (Cardiology)
- Cristobal Morales Portillo (Endocrinology)
- Domingo Ventura Vargas (Pain Management)
Their inclusion highlights the strength of Sevilla’s private healthcare sector – and confirms the province as one of Spain’s key centres of medical excellence.
Across Andalucia, a total of 10 doctors made the list, placing the region among the best-represented in the country.
Beyond Sevilla, top specialists were also recognised across the region:
- Malaga: Emilio Gonzalez Cocina (cardiologist) and Gonzalo Saez Perez (psychologist)
- Cadiz: Diego Benitez Pareja (Anesthesiology and Resuscitation) and Sergio Gamaza Chulian (cardiologist)
- Cordoba: Alberto Redondo Camacho (cosmetic surgeon)
- Granada: German Saez Roca (pulmonologist)
The awards are based on more than 5,000 votes from fellow medical professionals, meaning doctors are being judged by their own peers.
Criteria include clinical excellence, professional track record, research and teaching and trust among patients and colleagues.
All those recognised also hold top ratings from verified patients.
For Sevilla in particular, the recognition goes beyond individual success.
It reinforces the city’s growing reputation as a hub for high-quality private healthcare, combining cutting-edge treatment, research and teaching at the highest level.
