A Spanish cardiologist has sought to dispel the myths about eggs in relation to heart health.

Aurelio Rojas urged his tens of thousands of social media followers to ‘forget the fears of the 90s’ when it comes to the dietary staple.

WATCH: Eat this daily to reduce heart attack risk by up to 30%, says Spanish cardiologist

In a TikTok video, he said that one egg a day does not increase cardiovascular risk, adding that a PURE study involving over 146,000 people found zero increase in heart attacks or mortality in those who consumed an egg daily.

He also urged people not to avoid eating the yolk because it contains vitamins A, D, E and K plus antioxidants.

An egg a day can also reduce a person’s risk from dementia, he added, while helping those wanting to gain muscle due to its high protein content.

Eggs also have anti-inflammatory properties, Rojas said.

He said that eating more than seven eggs per week could only be bad for your health if you pair them with a high level of ultra processed or fatty foods, or if you are diabetic.

¿Qué opinas? “¡Ey! #huevo

He added: ‘Therefore my advice is simple, eat an egg each day without fear.’
