Firefighters were called overnight to tackle a blaze by the Guadalmina golf club in San Pedro de Alcantara after flames broke out in part of the complex.
The blaze caused alarm among nearby residents and club users due to the intensity of the inferno, which was clearly visible in the area during the night.
The road running adjacent to the golf course and the Barcelo hotel was blocked off by Policia Local patrol cars overnight.
The cause has not yet been confirmed, but early reports suggest the fire may have started in the area where electric golf buggies are parked.
Both Marbella City Hall and the San Pedro de Alcántara district office reported that emergency services had been deployed to deal with what was described as a particularly dramatic fire because of the size of the flames.

Residents in the area also alerted others through social media as firefighters worked to control the situation.
One local message warned people to avoid the area, saying that several golf buggies had been burned.
Guadalmina Club de Golf is one of the historic golf complexes on the Costa del Sol.
Opened in 1959, the facility currently includes two 18-hole courses, a nine-hole par-3 course and a driving range capable of accommodating around 40 players.
