An earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale has been felt across Malaga province – including the Costa del Sol.
The significant tremor was registered in the Sierra de Ronda mountain range at around 9.49pm on Friday.
Its epicentre in Cortes de la Frontera was only 5km deep, allowing it to be felt in various locations across the province.
One resident in Marbella told the Spanish Eye: ‘I was laying in bed and I felt my apartment sway from side to side, just for one or two seconds, I thought I was going crazy, but I definitely felt it.’
In some areas, locals saw their furniture actually move. The tremors were felt across the Ronda region, and in Marbella, Estepona and Manilva.
Residents of Jimena de la Frontera, Benarraba, Benalauría, Ubrique, and Gaucin also reported feeling the earthquake.
It was a small tremor, so no material or personal damage has been reported, but it was one of the strongest in recent days.

An hour earlier, a 2.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded in Ubrique, which was felt in Villaluenga del Rosario, and Benaocaz.
Towns across the Ronda region have registered dozens of low-intensity tremors in recent weeks, as reported by the National Geographic Institute (IGN).
Since the beginning of the month, a series of earthquakes concentrated in the southeast of the province of Malaga and in Cadiz have been analysed.
The IGN even issued an information bulletin about the seismic activity, which sparked concern among locals following weeks of heavy rain.
The IGN specialists insist that this activity falls within the normal range, is typical for the geographical area, and is not associated with flooding, weather conditions, or aquifer recharge.
