Missing: Helge Mayer missed his flight home to Germany

A German tourist who disappeared from Malaga province over a week ago has been found alive.

Helge Mayer, 37, had been due to fly home following a holiday to the Costa del Sol but never made his flight.

According to the original appeal, his phone has been switched off since at least February 1.

Relatives did not know exactly where Helge was staying nor which hotel he was in, complicating the search.

His pal Marc Isbach said: ‘He was on vacation in Malaga and was supposed to fly back at the beginning of February. He did not take the flight, and his phone has been switched off since around February 1.

‘I have tried contacting hospitals in the region, but apparently none of them speak English. Please share this and help me find my friend.’

Marc told the Spanish Eye today: ‘He is alive and well. I cannot share more information due to privacy reasons, but thank you a thousand times.’

He was the second person to have been reported missing on the Costa del Sol this week after a 15-year-old girl vanished from Torre del Mar.

Fortunately, after 24 hours of worry, Olivia contacted her parents and they have since reunited.
