Spain’s seemingly endless train of Atlantic storms is not letting up just yet. As Storm Marta fades away, Storm Nils is moving in, keeping Andalucia firmly on alert.
On Tuesday, rain continues to trigger yellow weather warnings in Cadiz and Jaen, while strengthening winds across western Andalucia have prompted orange alerts in Almeria and yellow warnings in Granada and Jaen. Rough seas are also affecting the Granada and Almería coastlines.
And there is more to come. In its latest update, state weather agency Aemet has issued three new orange alerts for Wednesday, warning of wind gusts of up to 90km/hr and waves reaching four metres.
Storm Nils has been named by Meteo-France and is forecast to bring very strong winds, hazardous sea conditions and periods of rain between Wednesday and Friday.
On Wednesday, Aemet warns of very strong gusts at higher elevations and along eastern coastal areas, alongside generally overcast skies and persistent rain in the Baetic mountain ranges.
Rain will be less frequent along the Mediterranean coast.

From 3pm, orange coastal warnings will be activated in Almeria, Almería city and along the Granada coast, where forecasts point to westerly winds of 60-70km/hr (force 8) and waves of 3-4 metres. These alerts are expected to remain in force into the early hours.
In Almeria, an additional orange wind warning will be active between 9pm and midnight, with gusts potentially reaching 90km/hr.
Granada and Jaen will remain under yellow alerts for both wind and coastal conditions for much of the day.
Meanwhile, Malaga’s coastline will also see conditions deteriorate, entering yellow alert status from 3pm, with westerly winds of 50-60 km/h (force 7) expected.
Despite the unsettled midweek weather, there is some welcome news. Forecasts indicate that conditions will stabilise over the weekend, with rain clearing, especially along the Costa del Sol and Almeria coast where highs could reach up to 22C.
Temperatures will dip noticeably – particularly overnight and inland – but from early next week, the outlook improves further, with dry weather and rising temperatures expected across much of Andalucia.
After weeks of storms and downpours, it looks like the region may finally be heading towards calmer, brighter days.
