A leading cardiologist has listed the best and worst fruits to eat in the evenings.

Aurelio Rojas told his tens of thousands of followers online that three fruits stand out as being the best to eat before going to bed.

Gyms in Andalucia will soon be allowed to open 24 hours a day

He said in first place is ‘the famous kiwi’, which he said has very high levels of vitamin C, helps boost serotonin and has a very low glycemic index.

Rojas said studies show kiwis help improve quality of sleep and over time boost the immune system.

In second place, according to the heart doctor, are berries, and in particular blue berries.

He praised the little fruits for their anti-inflammatory properties ‘that protect our hearts.’

‘They do not cause insulin to spike or activate the nervous system through the night,’ he added.

#fruta #dieta #dormir #kiwi

The third best fruit to eat at night, said Rojas, is an apple.

‘Preferably well washed and with the skin,’ he said, adding that fruit contains fibre and will not interfere with your sleep.

Rojas ended the video with a warning to avoid eating fruits at night that contain high levels of natural sugar.

These include bananas, grapes, mango and pineapple.

He explained: ‘They increase your insulin response… and you may sleep, but they may disrupt your rest as despite having slept, you feel very tired, and this means your heart suffers.’
