Spain’s Dirección General de Trafico (DGT) has confirmed multiple road closures across Malaga province this Wednesday due to heavy rain brought by Storm Leonardo.

  • Traffic difficulties (but not yet closed)

Several routes are flooded or blocked by landslides, with the Serrania de Ronda among the worst affected areas.

Some inland towns have recorded over 80 litres/m2 in just a few hours, with Alpandeire close to 90 litres/m2.

Roads currently closed

Main routes:

  • MA-8302 – Estepona, km 10
  • A-366 – Guaro
  • A-7150 – Casares

Closed due to flooding:

  • A-373 – km 49, Cortes de la Frontera (both directions)
  • A-7286 – km 12, Campillos (both directions)
  • MA-244 – Villanueva del Rosario
  • MA-4100 – km 2, Villanueva del Trabuco

Closed due to landslides:

  • MA-8401 – km 10, between Cortes de la Frontera and Jimera de Libar (fully closed)
  • A-369 – km 28.2, Algatocin

Traffic difficulties (but not yet closed)

The A-7 remains open but traffic is complicated in several sections due to heavy rain:

  • km 1056–1064 between San Pedro Alcantara and El Velerin
  • km 1033 at Marbella
  • km 1049 at Nueva Andalucia

The DGT urges drivers to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

Before setting off, motorists are advised to check live road conditions and follow official guidance as weather conditions continue to affect the province.
