Spain’s first-ever Waldorf Astoria will be in Marbella, it has emerged.
The hotel brand is the most exclusive offering from the Hilton Group and will officially land on the Costa del Sol in 2029.
The €220million project will be developed in partnership with Higueron Developments.
The future Waldorf Astoria Marbella was officially unveiled in New York at the iconic Peacock Alley of the Waldorf Astoria Manhattan.
The presentation was attended by Marbella’s mayor, Angeles Muñoz, alongside Hilton’s Vice President of Luxury for EMEA, Dan Wakeling and the CEO of Higueron Developments Javier Rodriguez.
During the event, Muñoz described the project as a major milestone for the town, highlighting that Marbella’s selection as the location for such an iconic luxury brand underlines its ability to attract strategic, high-value investment linked to a premium tourism model.
The Waldorf Astoria Marbella will form the centrepiece of the new Higueron Marbella Golf Resort, a large-scale transformation of the historic Marbella Golf site.
The redevelopment will span more than one million square metres and will include 120 hotel rooms and suites, along with a similar number of branded residences managed by Waldorf Astoria, combining private ownership with ultra-luxury hotel services.

Architectural design will involve three Pritzker Prize-winning architects, while the existing golf course, originally designed in 1994 by Robert Trent Jones Sr., will be modernised by his son.
The resort’s facilities will include a revamped country club, a 750sqm spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gym and wellness areas, as well as a high-end dining offering featuring signature restaurants, a lobby bar and landscaped outdoor spaces designed for exclusive experiences.
From Hilton, group president and chief executive Chris Nassetta said the opening of a Waldorf Astoria in Marbella marks the brand’s debut in Spain and represents another step in the global expansion of the company’s luxury portfolio.
