A ‘sadistic’ child rapist who repeatedly attacked a 12-year-old girl in Spain before going on the run has been arrested in the Caribbean.
Martiño Ramos Soto was cuffed in Cuba on Monday, just hours after being placed on Spain’s top 10 ‘Most Wanted’ list.
Ramos Soto was revealed to have been living a secret life in Havana for at least six months, according to an exclusive report by respected Spanish newspaper El Español.
Using a fake identity under the alias ‘Martin Soto’, he was able to integrate himself into the city’s cultural scene as a photographer.
He shaved his head and grew a long beard, while adopting a completely new style of appearance.
It was feared he had left Cuba for another country once he made the most wanted list, which was published on Monday.
However, sources told El Español that he simply cut off his phone and moved out of his apartment to another part of Havana while deciding his next move.
In Havana, he had been living as a photographer for at least six months, taking photos of young artists, both men and women, some of them openly erotic.
His true identity was rumbled on Sunday, when El Español revealed he had fled to Cuba.
Ramos Soto’s game was truly up on Monday, when he made the ‘Most Wanted’ list.
While he has been arrested, there is no extradition treaty between Cuba and Spain, complicating matters.

However, sources are hopeful that they can come to an agreement to have him sent back.
Ramos Soto, a former teacher, was convicted of raping a 12-year-old student he had taught for seven consecutive years on at least 10 occasions.
According to the ruling, he subjected her to ‘sadistic’ practices, slaps, punches and blows in Ourense, Galicia.
He would even ferry her around in the boot of his car so as to not attract suspicion, it was reported.
In the last attack, he left her ‘naked and almost unconscious’ in the mountains.
The victim is now 20 years old and suffers from serious consequences, including psychiatric hospitalisations, self-harm and anxiety attacks.
