A British fugitive wanted for two sexual assaults has been arrested at a hotel complex in Benidorm.
The 44-year-old man had been hiding from an International Arrest Warrant linked to offences committed in 2020, for which he had been handed a 10-year prison sentence.
He later absconded after being released on bail and failing to appear for a scheduled court hearing in the UK.
According to sources, the arrest was made by Policia Nacional officers carrying out routine patrols.
They became suspicious when they noticed a man behaving nervously in the hotel grounds.
When officers attempted to identify him, he was unable to produce any documentation. He was then escorted to his room, where further checks revealed he was wanted by UK authorities.
Subsequent enquiries confirmed an arrest warrant issued on November 12 relating to two sexual assault offences, one committed in London in 2020 and another shortly afterwards.
The man was transferred to the Central Investigating Court No. 3 of the Audiencia Nacional, which will oversee his extradition process.
