A driver accused of fleeing the scene of a fatal crash on the Costa del Sol has been released after giving evidence before a local court, judicial sources have confirmed.
The 23-year-old is under investigation for a series of charges, including suspected negligent homicide, failing to assist the victim and driving under the influence of cannabis.
His release is conditional and he must report to the court on the 1st and 15th of every month and has had his passport withdrawn, preventing him from leaving the country.
The case will now be handled by Court of Instance No. 1, which was on duty the day of the collision.
The crash took place in Coin at around 5.30pm on the A-355, which connects inland Malaga with the Costa del Sol.

The collision involved three cars and a motorcycle, driven by an 18-year-old from Monda who died at the scene.
Tributes poured in for Dani, who was a keen football player with a ‘big heart’, and had plans to become a police officer.
Three other people, two women and one man, sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalisation.
The A-355 has been dubbed the ‘carretera de la muerte’ (road of death), due to the high number of fatal accidents in recent years.
