A body has been found during the search for a missing British man who vanished from Torrevieja almost a month ago.
Marc Tulloch Hewson, 63, had last been seen on September 20, sparking a weeks-long search by family and friends.
A corpse was found in a wooded area behind homes in the Lago Jardin area, according to local reports.
A friend involved in the search said in an online statement on Tuesday: ‘Thank you to everyone for sharing and reaching out with ideas and kind words in the search for our friend.
‘Sadly his body has been found… not the outcome we hoped for but the support whilst he was missing was of huge support to his family and friends.’
Around 25 volunteers had been assisting the Guardia Civil with the operation.
Anne Constantine, a fellow expat helping lead the search, said Marc’s sister Fiona had been in touch with her to confirm the news.

The grieving sibling thanked everyone for their help and said ‘they did everything they possibly could.’
Spanish authorities have yet to formally identify the body, which is expected to undergo an autopsy.
