A multi-vehicle pile-up brought traffic to a crawl on the A-7 through Marbella this afternoon, snarling the busy coastal artery at kilometre 1045.
Emergency services said the alarm was raised at 3.45pm via the eCall system – an in-car safety feature that automatically alerts 112 in a crash.
Footage shared on Instagram shows how four vehicles were the most impacted in the incident, while four more were seen stopped just metres ahead.
While medics have yet to confirm any injuries, no one was trapped inside the wrecks, suggesting all occupants made it out unaided.
The collision has caused long delays for Malaga-bound traffic, with tailbacks stretching along one of the Costa del Sol’s most congested stretches.
Drivers are urged to take extra care and consider alternative routes.
It came during what was already an extremely busy day on the road, with travellers complaining that it took them two hours to travel from San Pedro to Marbella’s La Cañada shopping centre.
Other footage showed how one car had broken down on the A-7 route, adding to the chaos.
A group of men were filmed pushing the car in a bid to get it started.
