Tourist numbers in Andalucia experienced a 1.9% surge during the first six months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, new figures have shown.
The figures, covering January to June, do not include July, the month in which many businesses in areas like the Costa del Sol have reported seeing a year-on-year drop in earnings.
The data, released Thursday by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA), shows there were 16.67 million holidaymakers registered in the first half of 2025.
The figures, drawn from the Andalusian Tourism Situation Survey (ECTA), show that over 10.2 million tourists arrived between April and June alone – a 2.4% rise compared to the same quarter in 2024.
This builds on the 6.45 million tourists registered in the first quarter (+1.3%), confirming continued growth.

Visitor spending has, so far, followed suit. Tourists spent a total of €7.827 billion across the region’s eight provinces in the first half of 2025 – a 5.68% year-on-year increase.
Domestic market remained steady
Of the 10.2 million visitors in Q2, 60.2% were from within Spain – split between Andalucians (29%) and residents from the rest of the country (31.2%).
International arrivals made up 39.8% of the total, with 29.3% coming from other EU countries and 10.5% from outside the EU.
Malaga led the provincial rankings, attracting 27.9% of total visitors during the second quarter.
Cadiz (18.4%), Sevilla (15.9%), and Granada (11.7%) followed. Huelva, Almeria, Cordoba, and Jaen accounted for the remaining share, each with under 10%.
Shorter stays, higher spending
While average stays continued to shorten – down 0.7% in Q2 to 5.1 days – daily spending per tourist increased by 6.1% year-on-year, reaching €86.19.
The first quarter saw a similar trend, with average daily spending at €83.40 (+6.5%).
Malaga again topped the list in daily spend, with an average of €94.80. Tourists from outside Spain spent the most (€109.46 per day), compared to €74.84 for Andalucians.
Hotels still preferred accommodation choice
Hotel accommodation remained the preferred choice for 58.6% of tourists, while 33.8% opted for holiday rentals.
Visitors rated their Andalusian experience highly, with an average score of 9 out of 10. Jaen received the highest marks (9.4), followed by Sevilla (9.2) and Cadiz (9.1).
Malaga and Granada matched the regional average, while Almería, Córdoba, and Huelva trailed slightly behind.
